Original article: Robos con violencia, homicidio frustrado y otros delitos: Detienen a 3 carabineros que integraban banda criminal en Curanilahue Three carabiners were arrested in Curanilahue on charges of being part of a criminal organization that was dismantled following an investigation into criminal association, attempted homicides, drug-related offenses, and arms violations, among other crimes. Alongside the carabiners—who have been dismissed from the force—12 civilians were also apprehended, reported the regional prosecutor of Biobío, Marcela Cartagena. The prosecutor clarified that this «is an ongoing investigation, not a recent one, led by the local prosecutor’s office in Arauco, and indeed, in coordination with the Saicar team (Internal Affairs Sections) of Carabineros and the OS9, a significant investigation has been carried out that has allowed us to enter and search nearly 20 homes with judicial authorization today.

» As a result of this operation, added the regional prosecutor, «a total of 15 individuals have been detained, 13 by judicial order and 2 in the act, and it is important to highlight that among those arrested is the leader of the organization and 3 active Carabineros officials. » Prosecutor Cartagena indicated that the criminal association was being investigated for various offenses, including unprovoked shootings, attempted homicide, and violent robberies. Regarding the carabiners, she noted that 2 were arrested as members of the criminal organization «and also for, in our view, committing public document forgery and obstruction of justice.

» Meanwhile, the third carabiner was arrested «for specific activities unrelated to the criminal organization,» concluded the prosecutor. We will continue to provide updates.
