«Little Pulse of the Universe»: Tome Author Andrea González Macaya Stars in New Release from Ediciones Mujeres de Letras
Original article: «Pequeño Latido del Universo»: Autora tomecina Andrea González Macaya protagoniza la nueva publicación de Ediciones Mujeres de Letras Continuing the feminist and inclusive editorial work that Ediciones Mujeres de Letras has been developing since 2016, «Little Pulse of the Universe» marks the debut publication of Tome author Andrea González Macaya. The book invites readers to engage with contemporary poetic prose, where the landscapes of Tomé and its coastal identity serve as pathways to activate collective memory and connection. It also explores the intimate and everyday journeys through childhood, affections, nature, and the societal scars we leave behind.
The book will be launched on March 31 at 6:30 PM at the Municipal Library of Tomé (Ignacio Serrano 1066) and will feature the author, alongside poets Ruth Carvajal and Karina Kapitana, performance artist Natalia Moya, and Angela Neira-Muñoz, the editor of the publication. This event is free and open to the public, with a special launch price available for the publication. «With this book, I seek to connect with reading communities that find poetry as a space for encounter, especially those living in territories like Tomé, in coves, neighborhoods, and towns where life is deeply tied to the sea and collective memory,» explained the author.
The writer also highlighted the mediating power of the work, which integrates visual elements that interact with the text along with an audio format (audiobook) designed to reach those who may not typically approach poetry but can find something relatable—a picture or memory that resonates with them, added Andrea González Macaya. Angela Neira-Muñoz, director of Mujeres de Letras, commented that «Little Pulse of the Universe» speaks directly from the powerful voice of someone immersed in and influenced by her surroundings, creating from that place. “In this early stage of our editorial journey, I observed the significant appeal of her proposal as it addresses various issues, presenting her as a keen woman inhabitant of this world.
I believed her manuscript should be included in the poetic prose catalog of Ediciones Mujeres de Letras,” the editor explained. Thus, the editorial process included editing and stylistic correction workshops with the author and interdisciplinary work, where every word, chapter, design, color, material, and sound was crafted with great care, emphasized Angela Neira-Muñoz, who also wrote the book’s foreword. This new publication also showcases artwork and design by Daniela Ramos and features the audiobook and sound dimension created by La Gaviota Podcast.
In this way, the inclusive perspective as an editorial hallmark will allow the poetic work to reach a broad audience, enabling everyone to «experience in poetry a little pulse that accompanies them amid the everyday,» concluded the author from Tomé.
